Easy Walks

Around Villa Sila

If you’re looking for easy hiking trails to enjoy the beauty of nature and the spectacular Genal Valley, look no further…

I have put together some routes and trails that can be enjoyed from your front door or just a short drive from Villa Sila.

Circular walk to Benadalid

Walking from Villa Sila to Benadalid on this circular contour route offers you beautiful views of the Genal Valley.

Start at the top aparartment, Boho, and take the road that leads away from the town. Or, better yet, start at the bottom apartment, El Jardín, and take the hiking trail away from the town.

Duration: Approximately 2,5 hours

Fitness level: Medium

40 Minutes to Benadalid

Start from Villa Sila’s top apartment, Boho, and walk away from town on the dirt track. After crossing to small streams, turn left and from here walk up the hill.

It gets a little steep for some minutes until you reach a dirt road at the top of the hill. From here you walk downhill to Benadalid where you can have a look at the castle and have a drink at El Mirlo before walking back again.

Duration: Approximately 40 minutes one way.

Fitness level: Easy

Recreation Area El Bailadero

Walk to the school in Benalauría and follow the track that leads away from town.

This track leads all the way to the Genal Valley, which is a long and demanding hike, but you can also just walk as far as you like and take a break (or have a picnic) at the Bailadero, Benalauría’s Recreational Area.

This a the perfect spot to watch the sun setting over the hills of the Genal Valley.

Duration: Walk as long as you like and return the same way.

Fitness level: Easy

El Peñón

When you left the main road to drive down to Benalauría, you had a high rocky mountain next to the road. This is El Peñon, “The Rock”, of Benaluaría.

You can walk up to the mainh road or drive up and park your car at the house that is at the turnoff and take the road up the mountain from there.

It is an easy track for most of the way, but once you reach the top, you can follow some hiking trails that require more skill.

This is the place for spectacular breathtaking views!

Duration: About 1,5 h one way

Fitness level: Intermediate

The Tower of Benalauría

For the most beautiful views of Benalauría, the Peñon and the Genal Valley, take the short and easy walk up to the Tower of Benalauría: El Torreón.

It is a nice walk from the central plaza up the hill above the town. There is a tower which is open and you can go up the stairs to look out over Benalauría and the valley from the top.

Duration: Approximately 15 minutes one way

Difficulty: Easy

“Truly a place to relax and disconnect”.

See you soon!
